Words in the Drawing: “The night before the sculpture, I awoke in the middle of the night because I still did not know what theme I would be using for tomorrow?
Then, I decided to do "The Tortoise and the Hare".
The tortoise's perseverance and determined spirit enable it to win the race against the rabbit.
When I look back at my art work, only did I realize that this is also the spirit of our inmates. Although we have leprosy and some inmates are even slightly impaired, we are persevering and strong. Many inmates can do a lot of things, though they have disabilities. We have learned that everything depends on ourselves, and do everything by ourselves.
Regarding this rabbit, I asked the teacher if it is alright not to wrap it, and the teacher said that it is unnecessary! That will enable people to see how I sculpted the shape of the rabbit. That is the technique I learned when I was gardening last time. I can use it in my art work now.”
